

He was raised in Cass Lake, MN. He grew up with an affinity for sports, hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. After high school Richard attended University of Minnesota where he earned a bachelor's degree. After college he joined the United States Air Force where he served three tours in Vietnam and ultimately earned the rank of Full Bird Colonel. He retired from the Air Force in 1987, after serving as base commander at Ellsworth AFB. Dick was the first navigator to earn the rank of Colonel.
Dick met his loving wife Molly Beringson while working at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage before her passing in 2023.
Later in life he enjoyed gardening, puzzles and especially spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by his children Kristin Beringson, Kelly Beringson, Todd Beringson and Traci Beringson; grandsons Harvey Brown and Oliver Brown; and his brother Jack (Lola) Beringson.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife Molly Beringson; parents John and Sarah Beringson and his brother Don Beringson.
Gathering of family and friends Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12:00-2:00pm at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00pm at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home. His final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery.
