Robert Baxter Jackson passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025 at his beloved home at Wade Hampton Golf Club in Cashiers, North Carolina. Having valiantly fought his illness, Leiomyosarcoma, with dignity and grace, Bob fought without complaint for 7 years and never stopped living life to the fullest. He died in his happy place having played golf the day before and surrounded by friends.
Bob was born in Nashville, Tennessee on December 15, 1960, to Connie Hays Jackson Robert Fenner Jackson, III. He attended Parmer School, Oak Hill School, Battle Ground Academy and graduated from Franklin Road Academy in 1980. Always competitive and loved playing sports, he was a valuable member of the Golf, Football and Basketball teams.
Bob went on to attend the University of Mississippi, Ole Miss, where he became a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and forged many life long friendships. It was at Ole Miss that he met the love of his life, Pamela Wilson, of which he was married for 39 years. A devoted Rebel, Bob was thrilled that all three of his children also graduated from Ole Miss, and he remained a loyal fan, frequently returning to Oxford for athletic events over the years.
Bob joined the Crichton Group in 1986. He then moved to Granbery and Associates in 1993 which he and his childhood friend, Jimmy Ward, partnered to purchase in 1995. The firm merged with the Crichton Group in 1998, retaining the Crichton name. Bob was named President in 2010 and Co-Chairman of it’s Board of Directors in 2014. In 2019, the Crichton Group sold to Hub International Limited where Bob served as Chief Marketing Officer of the Mid-South Division.
Bob’s strength of character was again evident in the many ways in which he served his community. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, an enthusiastic patron of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and like his father, a life long advocate for Cumberland Heights on which Board he served for two terms.
A devoted sportsman, Bob had a deep and lifelong passion for the game of golf and also loved duck hunting, particularly with his son, Baxter. Known for his easy charm and ability to connect with everyone he met, Bob was famously said to have a thousand best friends. He never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Bob was a proud member of the Belle Meade Country Club, The Golf Club of Tennessee, where he joined the Board of Directors in 2015, Wade Hampton Golf Club and The Chattooga Club.
