Robert Eugene Mcneilly

Robert E. McNeilly, Jr. age 83, died on the 19th day of April 2016. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Katherine Gordon. He is survived by his wife, Bette Sue Jackson McNeilly, son Robert E. McNeilly, III (Caroline), and daughters, Caroline M. Bartholomew (David) and Eleanor M. Arnold (Scott); grandchildren, Margaret McNeilly Thompson (John), William David Bartholomew, Jr. (Mary Liza), Mary Katherine Bartholomew, Edward Tate McNeilly, Eleanor Elizabeth Bartholomew, Robert Thomas McNeilly, Caroline St. Clair Bartholomew, Caroline Virginia Arnold, Elizabeth Gordon Arnold and Robert Gates Folk Arnold; step-children, Craig Parrish (Sherri), Nate Parrish (Nancy) and Corinne Ward (Jimmy); step-grandchildren, Mary Craig Tortorice (Brandon), Ashley Colclasure (Ethan), Nate Parrish, Jr., Cole Parrish, Elizabeth Parrish, Corinne Parrish, Katie Ward and Jimmy Ward; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. McNeilly attended Parmer Elementary School, Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt University. He served in the U.S. Army and had a business career in printing and banking. He also participated in a variety of civic, educational and church activities as a volunteer.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday April 22nd beginning at 9:30 AM at Christ Church Cathedral with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 AM. The family will gather afterward for a committal service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Montgomery Bell Academy, Vanderbilt Medical School Scholarship Fund, the Leah Rose Senior Residence, or simply do someone else a kindness.
