Damn you Smitty, seems like I was always saying those words to you, but it looks like this will be the last, oh Bud. I'm gonna miss you like crazy Smitty and I will always hold and keep all of our talks in my heart forever. My prayers go out to your family and friends Smitty. I can't believe this has happened, your gonna be missed by me and a lot of your friends and you sure did have a lot of them. So sorry to hear of Smitty’s passing. He was a great person and friend.  My office was next door to his shop on Stewart’s Ferry. I spent a lot of time there sharing fish tales and stories in general. He will be sadly missed by all of his friends/customers. Rest In Peace my friend love you dearly. Praying for Barbara and family

Smitty. You were and will always be remembered as one of the best folks I know. I love you for always being so kind, generous, respectful and tolerant of some of our old "Beer Belly" days. I never saw you without a grin on your face. Thank you for all of the talks we had about fishing, fun and some of life's serious matters. You always gave me encouraging words along with wisdom and respect. A true friend. You rest easy now. And always know how great you impacted so many lives. I love ya bud! Prayers will continue for your family and friends. See ya later on that golden shore.

I will miss him alot!  I am so sorry for his family's loss.  What a class act he was.  He is a Nashville icon, loved by everybody.  Another Nashville treasure lost.  He made a difference in a lot of people's lives.  He always treated people fairly and was a generous man to his customers.  I was a customer from his first location over on Stewart's Ferry Pike .  I enjoyed all of his post on Facebook as well, seemed like a good Christian man.  Goodbye my friend and Thanks for all the memories I made with your bait.  He was the last of the old time baits store in this area.  Rest in peace buddy!

I'm so sorry to hear my friend Smitty has passed away. I met him in 2004 and he immediately hired me as his accountant I have always enjoyed working with him on many projects. He always had a smile on his face and his personality was contagious. I will really miss him, he wasn't just my client, he was my friend. RIP Smitty.... Go catch some fish.
