
GRANT, Ruby May, age 98 passed away December 29, 2010. She was born February 6, 1912 in Boliver, AL. Ms. Grant is preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Archie T. Grant; parents, Clyde and Mamie Register and brothers Elmer, Clarence and Forrest Register. She is survived by her son, Archie (Ruby Jean) T. Grant Jr. of Fort Myers Fl; daughter Sylvia Marie Grant of Nashville; grandchildren, Archie Thomas Grant III of Goodlettsville, TN, Karen (James)Lynne Grant Handley of Orlando, FL., and Gary Lee Grant of Atlanta, GA.; great-grandchildren, Holly (Brian) Marie Grant Long, Grant Thomas Handley, and Caroline Frances Handley. Ruby May grew up in Wartrace, TN and graduated from Wartrace High School. She also attended Middle Tennessee State University. She enjoyed working with children, was a scout leader, taught piano, and was delighted in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Grant was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church for almost 70 years. She helped start kindergarten at Belmont, played the piano for the Couples Class, and delivered “Meals on Wheels” and was always willing to help. She drove to church almost everyday until the age of 90. Ruby May enjoyed picnicking on her Goodlettsville farm with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 4, 2011 at 2:30 pm in Dignity Hall with Rev. Linda Johnson officiating. Visitation with the family will be Monday January 3, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm and Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and Memory Park. The interment is private for family only. Active pallbearers are Archie Thomas Grant III, Gary Lee Grant, Grant Thomas Handley, James Edward Handley, Edward Dyer Register, and E.W. Monroe.
