Ruth Marie Kish

Ruth Marie Kish, 84, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Max and Mary Peterson and the youngest of seven children. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jimmy Kish “The Flying Cowboy,” and son, James Kish. She is survived by children Dennis Kish, Susan Joy (Bill), Tim Kish, Gean White (Ken); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Ruth was happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling with Mt. Juliet Senior Center on excursions across the country, having weekly lunches, playing Bingo with her friends, and taking regular trips to the casino. A favorite trip of hers was with Jimmy to Hawaii, the 50th state, for their 50th anniversary. She absolutely loved cats, especially her own, and she almost never passed up something with a cat or cheetah print on it. Ruth crafted many things, especially crocheted blankets. Her home was the center of activity during the holidays, and she cooked the best stuffed cabbage. She frequently attended Country & Western music gatherings with Jimmy and loved to see him play music onstage, which was how they met in the 1950s.

Ruth will be remembered by family for her lively conversations, generosity, and thoughtfulness; her devotion to her family; and her love of life. Ruth loved God and was a devout Catholic. Her family will be forever grateful for her honesty, her strength, her wisdom, and her love.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, September 27, at 11 a.m. in Lindsey Hall at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, where the service will be streamed lived on Facebook @MountOlivetFuneral Home.

Deacon Mike Wilkins will officiate the service.A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from four until seven in the evening at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
