

LAMB, Ruth Anne, 68, passed peacefully from this life at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Sunday, April 14, 2013, after a brief illness. The family is grateful for the superb care given at UT Memorial Hospital both ER and ICU units. Born April 19, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late James Woodrow and Ruth Davidson Lamb, she graduated BSN from the University of Tennessee College of Nursing, and moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she served as the first nurse manager of the NICU at The Med, a position she held for 25 years. Moving to Knoxville in 1998 where she enjoyed her many friends. Anne will be especially remembered as a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, as well as for the thousands of children whose lives she touched during her career as a nursing professional. She possessed an unwavering love of animals, gardening, travel, books, and trivia. Her quick wit and loving personality nurtured instant friendships with many she encountered. Survivors include her brother, James Hamilton Lamb (Margaret) of Franklin, TN; Beloved Friend Meg Kranaskas of Knoxville, TN, Loyal Companion, Emerson. Nieces Tracy Lamb Mitchell (Rob) of Franklin, TN, Stacy Ruth Lamb and Jamie Lamb McDougall (Brian) of Raleigh, NC; Great-Nephews James Conner Mitchell, Cooper James McDougall, and Tyler David McDougall; Great-Nieces Adelynn Elizabeth Mitchell and Keaton Bennett Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 3pm-7pm, Wednesday, April 17, at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Avenue North, Nashville, TN, and the graveside service to be held at 11am, Thursday, April 18, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 660 Thompson Lane, Berry Hill, TN. Pallbearers are James H. Lamb, Brian D. McDougall, Robert W. Mitchell, J. Conner Mitchell, William J. Yost, and Jak Kranaskas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heartland Golden Retriever Rescue, 234 Morrell Road #118, Knoxville, TN 37919-5876.
