Ruth Reeves Tant, 97, was a beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, co-worker and friend who peacefully passed in her hometown of Nashville, TN, on June 4, 2021.

Ruth was born on July 17, 1923 to parents Quincey and Donna Reeves. She is preceded in death by spouse L.E. (Pete) Tant, Jr.; brothers Wade and Frank Reeves; and sisters Dixie Austin and Helen Cook.

Known to everyone as Ruthie, Momma, and Grandma Ruth, she is survived by her three children- Clif Tant, Mike (Susan) Tant and Linda (Stafford Winnard) Tant; grandchildren Clif (Beth) Tant Jr. and Leslie (John) Jeffery, great grandchildren Clifton Tant III, Gabrielle Jeffery, and Eva Jeffery; and niece Debbie Parker (Jim).

Ruth was born in Union City, Tennessee. She was the last surviving member of Nashville’s Central High School Class of 1941. Ruth was a dedicated member of Concord Road Church of Christ where she attended for over 50 years and leaves behind many longtime friends.

Ruth loved the Braves, Vanderbilt sports and her garden. She was invigorated by the camaraderie and fulfillment from working. After over 30 years of working with her children in the family business, she concluded her career (up until the day before she went to be with her Lord) at Card Marketing Services in Nolensville.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9th from 11:30am to 2:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth wished for donations to be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.

Miss Ruth was an angel here on Earth. As co-workers, we shared our infatuation with the tv series "Downtown Abbey," eagerly discussing each episode on Monday mornings at work. And when my 29 year-old daughter died suddenly, Miss Ruth was there for me with sage advice and offerings of how to survive the rest of your life without someone you love so much. She even made dinner for me after my daughter's memorial service, a night that I will always cherish.

God speed, Miss Ruth!

I loved listening to Ruthie tell stories of her childhood. She was a beautiful story teller. She always saw the good in everyone and everything. It was an honor to know and love her. She'll always be my Grandma Ruthie.
Till we meet again, with all my love.

She was not my Mama but that’s what I call her. We have worked together for years at CMS, she ran circles around most of us up until her last days on this earth. We celebrated many of her birthdays with Boston Cream cakes which she loved! She is the most kind and caring person I have ever met. Now, she was persistent when she needed something. though. We are going to miss her dearly and know that heaven has truly gained an Angel with her.

Though not my biological grandmother, Ruthie had been in my life 36 years. She was an intelligent, hardworking, and loving soul. She always treated everyone well and made them feel special. One of the things I loved most about her was her accent and hearing her speak. She was truly like a second mother to my mom and a wonderful mother-in-law. Until we meet again some day!

My thoughts and prayers are with Linda and the rest of the family. Miss "Mama" Ruth was an inspiration and I will always remember her and how she carried on like the energizer bunny. I am so sad to hear of her passing but I find comfort in knowing she lived her life to the fullest. Loving her family and having such a sense of humor. She will be missed but her memory and legacy will go on and give us strength during this painful times. Linda, you now have one heckava guardian angel. Love you.
