Susan Deborah York

Sue was born May 28, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan - the oldest daughter of William M and Sarah Harriet Colsher Hawkins. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Jamie Michelle York, daughter-in-law Michelle Knoche Garrett, and brother-in-law William Jarvis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 45 years, Charles "Chuck" York of Nashville, TN; son Patrick (Pam) Garrett of Sanford, FL; son Lee (Kellee) Garrett of Wood River, IL; son Charles "CJ" (Emily) York, Jr. of Nashville, TN; and daughter Trisha York (Steve) Jones of Smyrna, TN. She is also survived by her sister, Connie Jarvis of Green Valley, AZ; former daughter-in-law Stephanie York of Nashville, TN; dear friend Michelle Crow of Nashville, TN; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons.

Sue loved her dogs - her "babies" - and feeding wild birds and squirrels while enjoying her morning coffee. She was a gracious caregiver to those in need, always put others before herself, and she never met a stranger. Her fried chicken, meatloaf, and Thanksgiving feasts were legendary.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
