Sylvia Grant

Ms. Sylvia Grant, 84, passed peacefully on January 30, 2026 in Sebring, FL. where she relocated. She grew up in the Hillsboro West End neighborhood attending Eakin Elementary, Cavert Middle and graduated from West End High School class of 1960. Sylvia was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a masters degree in Education. She taught in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Her great adventure was the six years she was a librarian in Salt Lake City, Utah. She returned to Nashville to care for her parents. She worked as a librarian in the Vanderbilt Owens School of Business.

Sylvia enjoyed reading, daily walks and lunch gatherings with her 1960 classmates. She was a devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville.

Preceded in death by her parents Archie Grant Sr., Ruby Mae Grant and brother Archie Grant Jr. (Ruby Grant). Survivors are Nephews Archie Grant III, Gary Grant, niece Karen Handley (Jim), great nieces Holly Long (Brian), Caroline Feagle (Justin) and great nephew Grant Handley (Rebecca), and seven great great nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held February 16th, visitation 10:00-11:15am, service 11:30am at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, Tn. 37204. Pastor Guy Griffith of Westminster Presbyterian Church, will lead the service.
