

FISHER, Thomas C. 87 of Brentwood, TN passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011. Born January 17, 1924, Tom grew up in Nashville with his parents, the late Will Stratton and Estelle Carr Fisher; brothers Will S. Jr., and John E. of Falls Church, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anne Gilbert Fisher; sons, Tom (Julie), Bill (Susan), and Alan; grandchildren, Matthew (Julie), Melissa, Sally, Dr. Lisa Beard (Jeff), Will (Hilaire), Andrea Rosenbohm (Josh), and Rachel Gonzalez (Danny); and great-grandchildren Madison Rosenbohm and Emmett Beard.
Tom was an Eagle Scout with Troop 26 and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1942. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Air Corp from 1942-1945. He earned his wings with the 61st Army Air Forces Flying Training Detachment at Avon Park, Florida in February 1944 and piloted the B-25 Mitchell Bomber. He resumed studies at Vanderbilt University, serving as president of the electrical engineering class and graduating in 1948. He was employed with E. I. DuPont de Nemours in Old Hickory, TN for 37 years. He was a recipient of the Long Rifle Award and the Silver Beaver Award for service to scouting. A life-long member of Forest hills United Methodist Church and predecessor Waverly Place UMC, he taught Sunday school for 44 years. Honorary pallbearers are members of his Sunday school class and church choir.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with Pastor James G. Hughes, Jr. Burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are members of his Sunday school class and church choir.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church or the Middle Tennessee Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
