Tyler Phillip Schoettle passed away unexpectedly at age 37 on April 5, 2025, at his family home in Nashville, TN. Tyler was born in Nashville on September 9, 1987, to Mary M Schoettle and Timothy P Schoettle, whom he leaves behind as well as his devoted brother, Hunter M Schoettle, also of Nashville. Tyler was very loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Tyler’s maternal and paternal grandparents are deceased, but Tyler leaves behind a large group of aunts and uncles, as well as 13 cousins and 9 additional grand cousins. His aunts and uncles are Phil Schoettle (Lynn) of Oxford, MS; Steve Schoettle (Georgianne) of Heber Springs, AR; Susan Schoettle of Sarasota, FL; Ben Mimms of Clarksville, TN; Robert Mimms (Cathy) of Clarksville, TN; Joe Mimms of Woodlawn, TN; Mark Mimms (Mindy) of Clarksville, TN; and Suzanne Mimms of Nashville.
Tyler was a very gracious and intelligent man. As a child, he frequently would seek out those being “left out of the action” in his play groups or at school. He would rush to share his candy with them at Halloween or at Easter egg hunts, assisting those children who were smaller or less successful in their candy pursuits. He attended Father Ryan High School and Hillsboro High School in Nashville, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 2006. He was very athletically enabled and excelled as a wrestler. He was a linch pin member of Father Ryan’s state wrestling championship team in 2004, where he reached the podium as a medalist in his weight class. He subsequently attended college at the University of Mississippi and at the University of Colorado-Denver campus.
Tyler was a wizard in the kitchen and cooked professionally in Denver prior to returning to his native Nashville. While living in Denver he honed his snow skiing talents to "double black” level, and he became a skilled outdoorsman and Alpine camper. After returning to his native Nashville two years ago he continued to exhibit his talents in the kitchen, entertaining his parents and brother with amazing culinary delights. He also had a real attachment to and took exceptional care of the family cats: Nala, Michael, and Remoulade. They will miss him as we will.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider donations to the Nashville Humane Society or Insight Counseling Services Nashville, or the charity of your choice.
A Private family service will be held at a later date.
