Velma Cecile Miller Bradshaw

Velma Cecile Miller Bradshaw, age 97, dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (Grammie) went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2018—just one day after what would have been her 75th wedding anniversary. Her late husband, Alfred C. Bradshaw, preceded her in death as did her mother and father Ella Sturdivant Miller and William Fred Miller, her sister Willie Louise Miller Ayer, and a niece Peggy Ayer Clark.

Cherishing her memory are two daughters, Dr. Gloria Bradshaw (Dr. Larry Bradshaw) of Abilene, TX and Joy Dillman (Ken Dillman) of Hutto, TX. In addition her memory will be forever dear to six grandchildren: Dr. Alan (Leah) Bradshaw of Nashville; Laurie Randel of Cedar Park, Texas; Amber Leach of Round Rock, Texas; Becky Elam of Hutto, Texas; Mary Dillman of Austin, Texas; and David Dillman of Austin, Texas; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary Bradshaw of Memphis, Katherine (P.J.) Hollenbeck of Virginia Beach, VA, Lindsay Bradshaw of Nashville, Morgan and Marlee Randell, and Sara and Jackson Elam all of Texas; two nieces: Portia Baker and Connie Long.

Velma was a member of the Brentwood Hills Church of Christ. She taught children’s Bible classes in Nashville and Tulsa, OK at various Churches of Christ. She retired after 26 years of service as a Federal government employee, first in the Internal Revenue Service in Nashville and then as a personnel management specialist for Southwestern Power Administration in Tulsa, OK. She received the Woman of the Year Award in 1982 from the SPA. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to almost every state in the U.S. and several other countries.

Visitation will be held from six o’ clock in the evening until eight on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Woodlawn. Service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, March 16, 2018 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with Visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Zachary Bradshaw, P.J. and Katherine Hollenbeck, Lindsay Bradshaw, Morgan and Marlee Randel, David Dillman, and Sara and Jackson Elam. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Brentwood Hills Bible Class and the Tuesday Morning Ladies’ Bible Class.
