

Floyd Wiley Griffith, 87, of Nashville passed away February 19, 2017. He was born and raised in Union county, IL, and graduated Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1947. One of his early jobs was as a projectionist at the Doll Theater in Jonesboro where he met his future wife Glenna Treece. They married Christmas Day 1951. After enlisting in the Army he served in France for one year. Floyd’s education included Coyne Electric School in Chicago. He received his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University, and his graduate degree from the University of Illinois. After graduation he worked for the US Department of Agricultural. Following his retirement he worked at the Ellington Agricultural Museum. Floyd enjoyed family time, the outdoors, camping, hiking, gardening and woodworking. He was an avid supporter of the Boy Scout of America, and enjoyed working at the Boy Scout summer camps. He was also a member of the American Legion Nashville Post 5.He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Glenna T. Griffith; daughter Lorrie Griffith; sons Larry Griffith and Mark (Lori) Griffith; grandchildren, Daniel (Rebekah) Griffith, Ryan Griffith, Josh (Candace) Griffith, Katie (John) Horn, and Robyn Griffith. Five great grandchildren and brother Davie (Carol) Griffith. Mr. Griffith is preceded in death by Brother Phil Griffith. A memorial Service will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 643 Harding Place Nashville, TN 37211 on Saturday February 25 at 2:00pm, with visitation at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mr. Griffith’s name may be made to Boy Scouts of America.
