

Billy H. Easley – retired Tennessean Photojournalist, born October 10, 1925, passed away on January 31, 2014. He is preceded in death by parents Myrtle Johnson Easley and William H. Easley. Billy was born in St. Louis, Missouri and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he attended Catholic School and public schools. Upon graduating from public schools, he attended Tennessee State University. He studied photography by continuing his education and certifications from Nashville School of Photography and Nashville State Technical Institute. He also received education in International Criminology. He was recognized internationally and nationally for his news photography. He has received numerous awards and honors nationally and locally. He leaves to cherish very fond memories, a devoted wife Gladys B. Easley; very devoted daughter, Cassandra Easley; sister-in-laws, Mary Lou Lee of Fort Pierce, Fla., Sarah L. Thompson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Gertrude Brown of Statesboro, Ga.; brother-in-law Lonnie Brown, Jr. of Stateboro, Ga.; godchild, Gabrielle Garrette; devoted cousins, Mary Harrison, Catherine Harrison, Pamela Harrison, William Harrison, Charles Harrison, Luvenia Butler, James (Joyce) Johnson, James (Donna) Smithson of Nashville, Tenn., Shirlee (Mildred) Shatteen of Atlanta, Ga., Eddie (Alberta) Dozier of Miami, Fla., Armetta Denso of Statesboro, Ga., Pearl Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Daphney Shatteen and family of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Churchwell and family; close friends, Charles Fellows, Dwight Lewis and Paul Oldham; numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Benjamin Hill at St. Thomas West and the Health Center at Richland. A public viewing will be held on from 1pm-7pm on Thursday, the 6th of February, at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Visitation will take place at Lawrence Avenue Church of Christ, 904 Lawrence Avenue, Nashville, TN 37204 from 11am-12pm on Friday, the 7th of February with funeral services to follow from12pm-1pm, Glenn McClain officiating.
