

William Laster Farmer passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hickory Hills Senior Care Center (Hendersonville). He was born on July 29, 1929 in Alabama as the youngest son of Jessie Eras Farmer and Mary Anna Aiken Farmer. W.L. was a lab technician with Marquette Cement Plant (Lone Star). After retirement, he worked at the UT Extension Office performing ground maintenance. He enjoyed his dogs and hunting, dancing, being together with family and friends, along with encouraging everyone to “hang loose”.He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by two grandsons. Clayton and Matthew Chitwood; and four brothers James, Carl, Clarence, and Clyde Farmer; two sisters, Lillie Mines and Frances Mason. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Farmer and daughters, Theresa (Chuck) Rains, Connie (James) Chitwood, Regina (Ed) Guyer, and Wendy (Mike) Van Liere and their grandchildren, Stanton Alexander, Jackie Fields, Hannah Trea, Rebekah Chitwood, Gina Ratajc, Kari Cook, Martin Guyer, Anna Bischoff, Brenna Van Liere, and Lexie Van Liere; along with 13 great-grandchildren. Survived by four sisters, Vera Hinshaw, Betty Gifford Harris, Mary Miller and Peggy Lillicrap.Visitation will be Friday, December 30th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 31st from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31st in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with Reverend Tommy Jobe officiating the service. Burial following at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Martin Guyer, Bryan Trea, Tony Mines, Alan Miller, Rudolf Ratajc, Mark Evans, Phillip Evans, Ed Guyer, Mike Van Liere, and James Chitwood.
