Anita "Mamang Aning" Jose Barrera

She was married to the love of her life Leonardo Barrera and blessed with six children, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. She was totally dedicated to her children in all aspects of their lives. She was a permanent fixture at Mabayuan, Olongapo City, Philippines where her generosity and kindness were known.

She came to live in United States on January 01, 1990, and has lived in San Diego, California. She was a loyal employee of Manchester Grand Hyatt in Downtown, San Diego for twenty-one years. Aning was known for her home cooked meals, which were prepared from scratch. She shared her love for dancing and socializing with friends and family. She was the life of every party, and she brought her contagious laughter everywhere with her.

She passed away on February 03, 2025, at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Her two children, Leilani and Emmanuel, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Leonardo, and her children Leonides, Arnel, Merla and Graciela. Anita will be remembered for her loving heart, and she will be truly missed.

A funeral service will be at 10 am Friday in St. Mary’s Church, 426 E 7th St., National City, CA, 91950.
