You were my BIG brother, even though our age difference was only three years. Yet there are many beautiful memories of you, although you left home at an early age. During the summer we used to play outside, barefooted in our play clothes, under a big mesquite tree after a hard rain. We would stand under the tree and you would pull a limb and we would get a shower. We considered that a lot of fun. As you well know Gil was so nice he couldn't hurt anyone's feelings. During the school year (he was about 12 then) he would walk to school and come home at noon for lunch. Mom knew exactly the time and she would be ready, waiting for him. This part figures as part of the story. Across the street from us, there lived a very poor family (much poorer than us). The head of the family was an old man named "Don Chencho" who drove a horse driven cart and picked up old stuff from the streets to maybe fix and resell. He went all around town. On this day, Gil had just left school to come home to eat when Don Chencho passed by, recognized Gil and offered him a ride on his horse driven cart of course Gil couldn't turn the nice man down. So he jumped on the cart and slowly drove home. It took him about 30 more minutes compared to the 10 minutes it took him to walk. He had to eat in a hurry and run back to school. That afternoon we all got a good laugh. When we asked him why he had done that. His answer was "well, I couldn't say no to Don Chencho when he offered me a ride." Typical of our beloved Gil. Although we didn't see each other during our lifetime as much as we would have liked, in our hearts, you and your family were always in Brownsville. We will miss you dear brother, but we will never forget you. You are now in heaven, no more pain, no more tears. With lots of love, Ofelia

There are so many wonderful words to say of an awesome brother(in law), Tio Gil. Most of our fun, beautiful memories were created at the parties we had, from Weddings, Anniversaries,
Birthdays and Celebration of Life....
Many hearts will have a heavy void, there has been and will be many, many tears. It's hard to believe this is happening. However, God has a plan for everyone, he prepared his place in Heaven. God gained a Handsome Soldier, one of the Best Husband, Dad, tata, a pure Angel. His Memory will live in our Hearts Forevermore! Our deepest
Condolences to all the Gonzalez family.
Fernando(Nando) Flores Family love you and will Always be here for all of you. ❤🕊❤ Rest Easy ❤

When I was young, I used to see Gilbert (senior) walking both Gilbert & Pat home from school. Always smiling. A friendly gentleman he was. May he rest peacefully. I send you giant bear hugs, along with forever blessings upon your family.
