Jimmy Raymond Mellinger

Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del AJimmy Raymond Mellinger (70), of San Diego, CA passed away on February 15th, 2016 just 3 days before his 71st birthday at Brighton Place Assisted Living Facility in San Diego where he lived for the last 7-8 months. He was born in San Diego, CA on February 18th, 1945. Jim Mellinger graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962. He joined the Army a few years later prior to the draft. He served in the Army from April, 1966 until November, 1968. The majority of his service was in Vietnam providing Long Line Communications. He received an honorable discharge after earning the rank of Technical Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Good Conduct Medal during his Service. He was married to Uneijce Jean Roberts which resulted in the birth of their 2 children. He worked many jobs over the years including Computer Repair, Medical Equipment Repair Technician, Bus Driver, Truck Driver, Process Server. He did whatever he had to do to provide for his family. He is survived by his sons, Jamie Ralph Mellinger and Stephen (Steve) Leonard Mellinger, his one grandson Matthew James Mellinger, step daughter Kentrina (Jeanne) Jean (Letsinger) Baker and sister Linda (Mellinger) Bragg. Our brother, Anthony (Tony) David Fineberg was like a son to him as well. He is preceded in death by his parents, Iris Nadine (Nancolas) Mellinger and Ralph Wilbur Mellinger, his siblings Joanne Eloise Mellinger and Gordon Mellinger.
