

On August 22nd, 1964, John Benavides was born into this world. The third child of Rose and Santiago Benavides, John took his first breath in San Diego, California at Balboa Naval Medical Hospital. As a child, John came up with his big brother “Jimmy” and big sister “sissy.” John proudly grew up “old school” developing his street smarts and unique ability to connect with everyone he met. Seeking a challenge, an opportunity to serve his country as his father, and the opportunity to join the most “bad ass” military branch in America, in 1981 John joined the United States Marine Corps. Destined to become not just any Marine, John set his heart on being part of the famed “0311” infantryman, where his fellow “grunts” prided themselves on being the reason the Corps was created. John’s love for the Marine Corps would later lead his son John and daughter Breeanna to join, making him one of the proudest Dad’s on earth.
John became a father to 9 children and 9 grandchildren. John died in the prime of his fatherhood. Having developed his own special bond with each of his children, John used his power of affection, authority, humor, persuasion, leadership, listening, mentoring and most importantly love for his children.
Being able to set his own hours and having no one to report to but the homeowner, John became a journeymen carpenter eventually learning how to build beautiful custom homes “from the ground up.” John died his own boss.`
On June 28, 2022, John Benavides left our world. He was survived by his mother, Rose, his Father, Santiago, his brother, Jimmy, his late sister, Ermalinda, his daughters, Victoria, Angela, Breeanna, Ashley and Jessica, and his sons Mark, John, Angel, and Robert. John died a proud and loving grandfather to Emily, Abigail, Jack, John III, Aubree, Kayla, Sophia, Sarah, National.”
