Born in San Diego, California, Lewis lived a full and remarkable life marked by devotion to family, service, and adventure. He was a 1953 graduate of Sweetwater Union High School. A tough and proud father, he valued hard work, discipline, and perfection, and he took great pride in raising his four children and guiding them through life. Every year, he took his children on memorable camper trips, mostly to Montana, where they visited cousins and explored the breathtaking countryside—a tradition that created lasting memories for the whole family. As he got older, Lewis enjoyed spending quality time with his children and goddaughter, cherishing those moments above all else.
Lewis served his country in the Army. He received a Good Conduct Medal for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity. He was an avid pilot who loved adventure and exploration. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service with the PacBell, AT&T, Pac Tel phone companies, earning respect for his professionalism and commitment.
Known for his kindness and selflessness, he was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved cooking and taking care of people, sharing meals and warmth with family and friends, and he thoroughly enjoyed going dancing with his various partners.
He was a voracious reader having read over 3,000 books. He had his own box at the Lincoln Acres branch library!
He is survived by his four children, (Elisabeth, Tony, Margaret and Lewis Wayne), one goddaughter, (Fabiola) three grandchildren, (Matthew, Tiffany & Patrick) and his companion, Thelda Bauza- all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, resilience, and generosity. Lewis’s life was full of adventure, dedication, and joy, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
