

Luz was born April 15th, 1943 in Mexicali, B.C. Mexico. She started her work career in Mexicali working in different lines of work through her adolescence in Mexicali. Being bilingual, her employer at that time requested her transfer to their affiliate company in Yuma, Arizona. Luz, later transferred to the Calexico hospital for a couple of years. Luz spent the majority of her working careers for the Imperial Country Sheriff’s Department from the early 70’s until the late 80’s (18 years). She was a deputy sheriff and worked the intake department in the front office in the main jail. In the 2000’s she decided to go to UCSD La Jolla where she became a certified translator.
She is survived by her four children Cesar E. Castro, El Paso, TX; Patty Salas, Chula Vista, CA; Fernando Castro, Chula Vista, CA; Carlos A. Castro, Chula Vista, CA; 12 Grand-Children, 1 Great- Grand-Child and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Manuel Mata Sr. and Rosario Talamantes de Mata, 2 Brothers Manuel Mata Jr. and Fermin Mata.
Services will be held on Thursday 30th, November from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Berge-Roberts.
Mass services will be held on Friday 1st, December at 12:00pm at Corpus Christi Church.
Burial will be as follows at Glen Abbey Mortuary.
