Ramon Colina Laserna was born on November 15, 1957, in Noveleta, Cavite, Philippines. He was the youngest of thirteen children born to Candido Laserna and Amapura Colina. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work and humility—qualities that would remain with him throughout his life.
He immigrated to the USA on June 28, 1975 with his sister Carmelita, brothers Rafael and Rolan. They lived temporarily with his brother Ruben’s family in Linda Vista, San Diego. He later made his home in San Diego, where he built a life grounded in service and dedication.
Ramon proudly served in the United States Navy, first on active duty from 1975 to 1978 on the USS Coral Sea, and continued his commitment for a total of 20 years including Navy Reserve service. After his military career, he worked for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department before beginning a meaningful career in ship-building at General Dynamics NASSCO in 2007. He retired in 2025 as a Senior Logistics Engineer, closing a chapter defined by perseverance and reliability.
In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and fishing, and later found simple joy in tending to his garden. He dreamed of owning a farm in the Philippines and hosting large family gatherings at the ancestral house in Noveleta.
Ramon passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in San Diego, at the age of 68. He was surrounded by his family. He is survived by his daughters, Andrea and Eleanor, and his former spouse, Lorna.
Quiet and generous by nature, Ramon took care of his loved ones by being the provider that he was. He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, generosity, and the simple ways he showed love.
You are loved beyond words and will always be in our hearts. May you rest in eternal peace.
