Richard Palguta

Richard Palguta died peacefully in San Diego, CA on July 26 at the age of 85. Richard is survived by; his son Mark (Carol) Palguta of Chula Vista, CA along with their children Brock, Amy, Allison and Ben; and his daughter Regina (Jay) Swearingen of Sykesville, MD and their children, Audra, Margaux and Rachel; his oldest Grandchild Michelle (Nathan) Reynolds of Lake Elsinore, CA and their son, Bennett his great-grand son. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Celestine Rose Petersen and their first child, Michelle’s father, Bennett Stephen Palguta. Richard was born on October 21, 1929 in North Bessemer, PA to Stephen and Josephine Palguta. After serving time in the army, Richard graduated from the Universities of Bowling Green and Kent State with a degrees in Education. After completing his masters degree Richard moved to Alliance, Ohio where he taught in the field of science and coached football for the state champion team. He spent the next 35 years teaching and coaching children in inner-city high schools in Rochester, NY. Throughout the years, Richard was a charter boat captain on Lake Ontario, cyclist, accomplished nordic skier, avid outdoorsman, celebration enthusiast, and was passionate about any and all things to do with his beloved family. Upon retirement, he moved to San Diego, where he enjoyed many of the best years of his life. He passed 10 years to the day after his wife Celestine Rose.
