Stephen was a man of deep Catholic faith, sharp intellect, and joyful spirit. The son of Pat & Tim Oesterle, founding members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He was the oldest son of a family of 10 children. He grew up in the home his father built in Bonita, CA. He attended St. Michael’s Academy from its opening. He continued his education at Marian Catholic High School and completed his education at University of San Diego with a degree in Philosophy.
His faith was not merely something he believed; it was something he lived each day. Stephen devoted time serving Saint Michael’s Catholic Church community, offering his talents, his steady presence, and quiet encouragement to those around him.
Professionally, Stephen worked in the field of computers, writing software and building systems at a time when the technological world was still taking shape. He delighted in solving complex problems and took genuine satisfaction in creating solutions that were clean, efficient, and dependable.
Those who knew Stephen will remember his sense of humor and his subtle smile and the spark in his eyes. He never missed the opportunity for a good dad joke or silly pun.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marci of 44 years, his three children (John, Angela & Sarah), six sisters (Michele, Mary Elise, Ellen, Christin, Carla, Maureen), one brother (Paul) and seven grandchildren (Markus, Jasmine, Tenaya, Elizabeth, Ayden, LilyAnne & Kishan). They will remember him for his faith, honesty, and love for his family.
