

William Torres 88 also known as Willie, passed away surrounded by loved ones. Born in El Barreal, Penuelas, Puerto Rico. El Barreal is a rural area in the town of Penuelas within the country of Puerto Rico. Willie was born on May 16th, 1935 to the late Manuel Valerio-Torres and Isabel Quinones. As a youth Willie enjoyed ridding horses in his hometown and built a relationship with the land by learning how to farm.
Willie is preceded in death by his late wife Carmen Torres, sons Juan Sun and Oscar Sun along with his siblings Rodolfo Torres, Alfredo Torres and Samuel Torres. He is survived by his siblings Libertad Torres, Israel Torres, Victor Torres, Adeli Torres and Rosalina Torres along with his children Aide Morales, Rosenda Macias “Roselly”, William Torres Jr “Junior”. and Delia Torres. In addition to this, William had 14 Grandchildren and 28 Great-Grandchildren and numerous, nieces and nephews.
At the age of Eighteen he moved to the United States and started working at the US Steel Company in Gary, Indiana. At 21 he moved to San Diego and worked at the famous Mr. A’s restaurant, Mr. A’s continues to be a prominent restaurant in the city of San Diego. He also worked in agriculture in Delano, Bakersfield and Lamont. Willie also worked for National Steel And Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) for 25 years on the USS Artida and the USS Arcade. Willie finished his career as a longshoreman in the port of San Diego.
In his spare time Willie enjoyed cooking, watching baseball games and socializing with friends and family. He was always happy, humorous and kind to everyone around him. Willie displayed a deep care and concern to his friends and family. He throughly enjoyed spending the holidays in his homeland of Puerto Rico. In his passing he would want his friends and family to continue on in this harmonious manner.
