Alvin Hurrie

Following a lengthy illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin Hurrie, with his family by his side, on January 27, 2026, at the age of 68, in the SICU at the Health Sciences Centre.

Alvin will be lovingly remembered by his spouse, Linda; his children, Crystal (Keith) and Shawn (Christine); his cherished grandchildren, Emmett and Gabriella; his brothers, Barry (Sandy), Ron (Darlene), Terry (Angie), and Chris (Christine); his sisters, Ilene (Fred), Claudia (Phil), and Lorraine (Mark); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Maria, and his sisters, Rosemarie and Bonnie.

Alvin worked at Wilsons Auto Electric for 20 years before the company closed. He enjoyed the family like atmosphere there, especially since his brothers, cousins, uncles and daughter worked alongside him. For Alvin, it was never just a job—it was a place where he could be surrounded by friends and family.

Family was at the heart of everything Alvin did. He never cared much for eating fish or fishing, but he loved spending time with those he loved most. He enjoyed weekends at the trailer with his loving wife Linda of 44 years, listening to music, playing cards, taking road trips, and camping with Les and Tina. Known for his quick wit and good sense of humour, Alvin always tried to keep things light and fun. He was the family’s anchor—steady, supportive, and always ready with a laugh.

Alvin treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren, watching them grow and sharing in their adventures. He also enjoyed coffee outings with Terry and Angie, and he had a soft spot for his beloved dog, Copper.

The family will honour Alvin’s life privately, with a burial to take place at a later date.

Special thanks are extended to the SICU and Dialysis Unit staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their outstanding care and compassion throughout Alvin’s illness.
