We are deeply saddened to announce that our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother has passed away. Armande Angeline Marie Delorme (nee Godard) passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the age of 86 years old at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre after an extended period of declining health.
Armande is predeceased by her loving husband Ulysse; parents, Annette and Alphonse Godard; sister Olive Sacchetti, her grandparents; and many other special brother and sister in-laws.
Left to mourn are her four children, Daniel (Suzanne) Delorme, Raymond (Elaine) Delorme, Jerry Delorme, and Darlene (Ian) Cockerill; grandchildren, Derek, Jennifer (Keith), Tina (Ethan), Janessa, Kristin (Dan), Patrick (Megan), Micheal (Emma), and Kelly (Casey); eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Lorraine Walton; brothers Roger Godard and Marcel Godard, and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Armande was born on April 8, 1937, in Morris, Manitoba. She married Ulysse Delorme on September 4, 1955, in St. Vital and together they welcomed four children into their lives: three sons and a daughter. As a family, they spent time living in Winnipeg, St. Andrews, and Petersfield. There were many summers spent camping, visiting, and enjoying large gatherings with extended family. Armande excelled in many vocations during her working years; most notably spending time working in clothing manufacturing and at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Armande enjoyed sewing and would craft the most stunning designs. She was an exceptional artist and could easily teach herself new mediums of art that she generously shared. She was never too busy to take the time to teach someone how to properly finish a seam, add shading to a drawing, or put the finishing touches on an important project.
Her home in Petersfield was a warm and welcoming place to spend the day on Netley Creek. It was here that Armande earned the nickname “Grandma Beach” as she will be lovingly remembered by many of her grandchildren. Armande spent the later years of her life living in Selkirk, Manitoba where she enjoyed bowling and card games (especially Canasta). Her final years were filled with many outings with her daughter, Darlene, where they spent quality time together doing the activities that Grandma most enjoyed. She always had a spot at the kitchen table or in the sunroom to hear about a problem and offer support; she was the best listener. Her accepting nature and caring demeaner will be greatly missed.
Armande will be remembered foremost for her generosity, wisdom, and quick-witted sense of humour which she maintained even in her final days. She was humble, intelligent, and creative. We will miss the deep conversations about issues big and small, the moon and the stars, and will cherish the memories that we have made with her over the years. The profound impact she has had on those around her will be long-lasting and held close to the heart.
At Armande’s request, a private graveside service will be taking place at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Betel Personal Care Home who provided quality and compassionate care to Armande for the past three years.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com for the Delorme family.
