A good and faithful servant, Auguste Marc, passed away on Friday, October 25 in his usual
style, humbly and with faith in the Lord.
Gus was born April 25, 1923 in Notre Dames de Lourdes, Manitoba, to Auguste Sr and Clarisse
Thorimbert, the youngest of six children. At sixteen years of age he met the love of his life,
Marie Teillet, and they were married in the summer of 1943. Together, Auguste and Marie
raised six children, Marc (Pat), Grace, Denise (Ken), Susanne (John), Paul
(Noreen) and Louise (Tim). As a father, he instilled a love of music, dance and play, and most
importantly he passed down his faith by how he modeled it daily. In their seventy years of
marriage, they were blessed with 23 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren (with one more
on the way). He was predeceased by many loved ones, including his siblings Jean Joseph,
Robert, Louis, Yvonne and Alice, and his son-in-laws Henri and Emile and his two grandsons
James and Marc.
Among his many accomplishments, he was a WWII RCAF pilot and trainer of Free French
Fighters. He then worked in the fire service as a fireman, eventually becoming Fire
Commissioner of Manitoba and was instrumental in establishing the Fire College in Brandon.
He was a councillor for St Norbert, a Knight of Columbus, and very active in the Archdiocese of
St Boniface.
What we will all remember most was how he met everything with a sense of humor, a twinkle in
his eye, and with a firm belief in the Lord and devotion to the Blessed Virgin.
A special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care unit in St Boniface Hospital and the Grace
Hospice, for their incredible loving care of our Dad during the last few months of his earthly life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the St Boniface Hospital Foundation or the Grace
Hospital Foundation.
