Her sister Germaine Montsion and sister-in-law Germaine Brunel.
Cecile was predeceased by her loving husband Alphonse (2000), daughter Denise (1989), sons Gilles (1993) and Raymond (2016).
Mom was the 9th in a family of 12 children. She was born in Bellevue, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Ste. Rose du Lac and area in 1940. Here she met Alphonse and they married in 1943. In 1949 they and their 3 older children moved to Winnipeg and a few years later started Brunel’s Place in St. Germain. Our Mom was referred to as Mrs. B, making burgers and fries with a side job of patching up the neighborhood boys! Often feeding them too!
In 1978 they retired to St. Vital and Mom started to bake ice-cream pails full of homemade cookies to spoil the grandchildren. Mom and Dad enjoyed gardening, they always shared their crop and kept a wonderful flower garden as well.
After Alphonse passed away Mom enjoyed a beautiful life at Kirchhoff Gardens playing cards, dominos and Yahtzee with great friends and later on with her sister Germaine until 2019 when her health and mobility became challenging. Action Marguerite then became her new home where she lived until her passing.
We would like to thank her health care providers who enabled her to live peacefully, even watching part of a hockey game with her. She loved sports and watching the Jets, curling and golf.
Mom’s strength came from her unwavering faith in God which gave her purpose always encouraging to accept the things you cannot change and living your best life possible. Her greatest joy was her family.
A celebration of Life will take place Friday, June 24th at 11:00AM with reception to follow at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Road in River Park South. In lieu of flowers gifts in Mom’s name may be made to Harvest Manitoba (1085 Winnipeg Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0S2, Phone: (204) 982-3663) or a charity of your choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com for the Brunel family.
