It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth McManaman at Concordia hospital, with family by her side, on October 6th, 2022. Elizabeth (Betty) was one of six siblings, born August 9th, 1932, to John and Dorothy Moore in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married Bernard (Sam) McManaman on August 16th, 1952, and they were blessed with five children: Nancy, Judy, Ruth Allan ,and an infant daughter who died four days later. Betty worked at Eaton’s factory initially, followed by 20 year career at Bethania Nursing home. She worked on the CUPE Executive for many years and was passionate about advocating on behalf of all the support staff. She loved reading and travelling with both work and taking family trips. She was parishioner at St. Gerard’s church for 60 years where she again was fortunate to foster many friendships. She was known for keeping track of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with several calendars. Betty is survived by her sister Sheila, daughters Judy (Paul) Stewart, Ruth (Allan) Marantz and son Al (Diane) McManaman, grandchildren, Corey, Randy, Lauren, Tamara, Neil, Naomi and Julia, and her great grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her spouse Sam, long-time companion Roger, daughter Nancy, grandson Conor, siblings, Marjorie, Doreen, John and Gordon.
Betty will especially be remembered for her kind soul and her sense of humour. She always sent cards/gave you a call on birthdays and holidays and loved to give you something on your way out the door. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother and was always excited for company or a phone call from relatives/friends. Her silly remarks and elaborate storytelling will be greatly missed.
The family wants to acknowledge her sister, Shelia, for all the support she provided Betty especially over the last few months. A private service for Betty will be held on October 12th at Green Acres. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your charity of choice.
