Hubert Philippe Grenier

On March 6th, 2021, Hubert Philippe Grenier decided it was time to accompany the love of his life, his wife Stella and his youngest son Laurent.

Hubert leaves to mourn his children Denis (Catherine), Suzanne (Marcien), Therese (Daniel), Paulette (Peter), Gerald (Jane), his 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Hubert was born on July 13th, 1935 in St. Labre, Manitoba to Alphonse Grenier and Marie-Ange (Ross) Grenier.

He left school in his early teens to be another man around the house to share chores and a life of adversities on a farm. Dad said “He lived a life of simplicity with joys and some sorrows”.

In 1955-56 he worked for Guess. He was proud to say that he drove a Fergusson tractor to backfill trenches for a gas line. He met Stella in May of 1957 just before going to Baffin Island for work. They got married on November 23rd, 1957. In January of 1958 he moved on to Taché Nursing Centre as a Laundry Technician till he retired in August of 1993.

He kept active with baseball and broomball and enjoyed riding his ATV or skidoo to the Bluff with family and friends. Playing cards and croquet with the family and an occasional Monopoly and Sorry game was always a hit.

He was most definitely a jack of all trades and helped anyone in need. There was always a spare part in his garage that he could use to fix something.

In deep conversations Dad would leave great words of wisdom. He has taught us not to take life and our health for granted. ” Take care of yourself so you can be there for your family and that life goes by so fast so enjoy every moment. Even when I am gone, everything in life to come will be all right and is unfolding exactly as it is supposed to. Be thankful, grateful and never lose Faith.”

Dad, Hubert‘s love, sense of humour and smile will be missed but not forgotten.

We cannot thank Dad’s family at Bethesda Place enough for all they have done to keep Dad safe, cared for, loved and feeling like he was home.
