Early in the morning on June 28, 2023, the clouds lifted and Mom was ushered to heaven…it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linda Marie Margaret Liut of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Linda’s life may have been cut short, but she touched the hearts of so many while she was with us and we know her legacy of caring and love will live on forever.
Linda is survived by her husband Gerard Gervais, predeceased by former husband Adrian Semeniuk, both survived by their daughters Andrea Villeneuve (Roger) and Sheila Molloy (Patrick), as well as step-daughters Nicole Gervais and Charlene Normand.
Linda’s unconditional love will remain in the hearts of her grandchildren: Aggie, Justin, Brie, and step-grandchildren: Sean (Brandy), Eric, Raymond (Meagan), Steven, Keanu (Jasmine), Dylan, Logan. She was blessed further with two great-grandchildren, Seth and Brock, who will know her through the memories of others.
Linda was born March 20, 1948 In Sault Ste Marie, Ontario to Dorothy and Angelo Liut, whom she is with once again. Sister to the late Ronald Liut (Leona Stoker), Larry Liut (late Judy, Aurelia Baumgartner), the late Dianne Guzzo, Dorothy Fera (Sam), and Jason Guzzo.
She was a cherished niece, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Her church, her Bible study groups, and her Young Living community are just a few among many circles of dear friends she would regularly spend time with.
Linda made friends wherever she went. Every person was an opportunity to connect and figure out how they knew someone else she knows or to work out how their 4th cousin, once removed, was likely from the Sault.
Linda’s multi-faceted life took her to many places until finally settling in Winnipeg where she would work in accounting at a number of large companies until her entrepreneurial spirit flourished and she found success with her own bookkeeping practice and a number of small home-based businesses for decades.
Her daughters would roll their eyes, as children do, at all the ventures from her craft store (Kraft Korner) to selling Tupperware, but it kept them in matching crocheted outfits as kids and ensured they could store cereal safely for a lifetime. In the time she was a single Mom, these businesses were her way of doing whatever it took to keep us safe and fed.
Only one thing was equal to Linda’s steadfast survival skills, her vibrance when she was singing. Singing was a constant joy for her and also a way she encouraged and uplifted everyone she met. Helping and encouraging others was important to her; from posting daily inspirations to planning the music for church service, she would not hesitate to lend a hand, give creative ideas, or bring compassion to friends facing challenges.
The family gives so much thanks to the ICMS and Palliative teams at the St Boniface Hospital whose quality care and compassion was so very appreciated during this incredibly difficult time.
We will honour Mom’s wishes with no formal event to memorialize her, but urge you to gather in the community where she touched your life to take time to celebrate her. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the St Boniface Hospital Foundation or an organization of your choice is appreciated.
