Dad will be lovingly remembered by his son's, Brett (Karen), and Glenn (Carrie). Grandchildren, Ashley, Curtis, Corey, Katie and Joshua. Great grandchild Mads.
Born in Woodridge, MB on September 30, 1939, Dad loved to be around family and friends and was very passionate about golf. Most of his young childhood was in Woodridge, but ended up moving to St. Boniface in his teens and went to school at Holy Cross. Met his wife Diane while working at OH&N (Osler, Hammond & Nanton) Winnipeg financial and investment firm, and married in Oakbank, MB on September 10, 1966. Brett was born in 1968 and Glenn 1971. Lloyd bought his first house in 1972 off of his late sister Laurina in old St. Vital, Winnipeg and lived there till 2014.
Dad was a very hard working man at a very early age, and was always there for family and friends. His love for golf started in his 20's and soon started golfing every Monday at Windsor Golf Club with brother Hector, cousin Ken and friend Richard. He then started golfing with his Son's Brett and Glenn as members at Cottonwood golf course. Lloyd was able to golf one last time in 2025 with Glenn. Dad was a very generous man often giving yearly donations to Cancer Care, The Salvation Army, Agape Table, and The Dream Factory. Dad received a hand written, personalized card from the director thanking him for his long time contribution to help kids have their dreams come true.
Papa, as he was affectionately know to his grandkids, loved them all dearly. He often attended their activities and wanted to know how they were doing, what was going on in their lives, and would offer words of advice and encouragement. Many a birthday and Christmas card was sent with a little something added to ensure they could get themselves something special for the occasion.
Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Diane, parents William and Marie Louise McLaughlin. Brothers Mick (Sherrill), Hector, Sisters Dorris (Joe), Laurina (Doug). He is survived by his brother Ken (Julie),
Many thanks to the wonderful people who looked after dad during his journey with Dementia. With extra note to Janet and Shirley at Irene Barron, and Ana at Holy Family for their great friendship and care. Many who crossed paths with dad noted how funny he was. It wasn't hard for those involved assisting dad to want to help him and get to know him more.
In accordance with Dad’s wishes, his ashes will be added to the urn with his wife (Diane), and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
