It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Marjorie Kathleen Lange on November 19, 2023 at Riverview Health Centre, after a long 10 year battle with dementia. Marge was born on March 11, 1940 in Prairie Grove, Manitoba.
Left to cherish Marge’s memory is her daughter Kim Fenstad (Andy), son Randy, grandson Edwyn, sisters in law Gina Staples, Bernice Lange, brothers in law Ken (Marilyn), Larry (Barb), Art and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Marge was predeceased by her loving husband Ed on November 19, 1999, her father William Staples, mother Kathleen Staples (Pynoo), step-father Jules Pynoo, sister Fran Hrynchuk, brother in law Don Hrynchuk, brother Don Staples, daughter in law Stephanie Lange and unborn granddaughter Everley.
Mom and Dad were married on August 6, 1960. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage together. Mom was a devoted wife and mother, who together with our dad built a loving home on Symington Road. She continued to live there independently, after Dad passed away until September 2014. Then she moved to Harmony Court in Riverwood Square for 2 years and then resided at Riverview Health Centre for the past 8 years. It broke our hearts to see her gradually lose her memory and independence.
Mom loved to entertain in her home, was an amazing cook and loved baking. No crowd was ever too big for her. She was well-known for her delicious butter tarts. Mom loved the outdoors, gardening, looking after her yard, camping, fishing, bowling, curling, casino trips and shopping trips to the States. She loved watching curling, the Jets and Bombers. Mom was always excited when she got to go to a Jets game with Randy and looked forward to her regular Saturday outings with Kim. Mom bowled, curled and was a member of the Red Hats, Archwood Seniors and Seine River Seniors. We always teased her that she had more of a social life than both of us.
As a family, we were fortunate to have gone on many family trips. We spent our summers camping. Once the majority of campgrounds in Manitoba were explored, we settled at a permanent site at the Oasis. It was here that Mom formed many friendships and created lasting memories. We were fortunate to have taken Mom to Hawaii in 2011. It was a trip that she thoroughly enjoyed and always talked about.
Mom was an organized, kind, caring, generous and outgoing lady who continuously put our needs before hers. She adored her grandson Edwyn who she was so proud of. He brightened her days and could always make her smile.
Your presence was so strong in our family, mom and that is why your loss is leaving such a huge hole in our hearts. You shared in our successes, lifted us up through our challenges and most importantly loved us unconditionally. We are sad that your dementia robbed you of so many years, but we are thankful for the many memories you created for us. We will miss your smile, the good advice you gave, the knowledge you shared and never ending love.
Marge’s journey with dementia wasn’t always an easy one. Her determination even right to the end taught us to believe that she is now in a place of peace, love and joy. It is a sense of gratitude to know that Mom and Dad are finally together again.
We would like to express our thanks to the staff at Riverview on AB and most recently C3 for their exceptional care of Marge over the past 8 years.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or AB floors of Riverview Health Centre.
