Mathilde Gauthier (nee Jubinville)
Mathilde (Tillie) Gauthier passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023 at the age of 96.
She is survived by her two children, Gil (Lorraine) and Mona ( Colin), son- and daughter-in-law Doug and Melissa, ten grandchildren, Kal (Jelena), Brett (Brie), Laneil (Dan), Milanne (Stefan), Denys, Noele, Paul (Emily), Celine (Bryan), Connor (Kristina), and Jared (Allee), and 13 great-grandchildren.
Tillie was predeceased by her husband Jerry, her children Guy, Michele, and Robert, and by her eleven siblings, Ludger, Ida, Cecile, Jeanne, Rita, Edouard, Paul, Gaetanne, Antonine, Lionel, Roland and her parents Xavier and Simone.
Tillie was born and raised in Letellier amongst the large and boisterous Jubinville clan. Their ‘joie de vivre’ was imbedded in her personality. Her memory will forever grace the hearts of those who were fortunate to have shared in her laughter and her positive outlook in life.
She married Jerry in 1949 and they became partners in life until his passing in 2005. They lived on the farm, in St. Joseph, until they decided to go into the hotel business. This took them to Emerson, Powerview, Red Lake and finally Winnipeg where they both retired and enjoyed travelling the world together.
Tillie was fiercely independent and enjoyed the final years of her life at Riverwood Square Assisted Living. We would like to thank the staff and residents at Riverwood for the excellent care and companionship she received in the eight years she resided there.
She loved to knit and we are gifted with her many beautiful creations. The love she had for her family was knitted into the stitches of all of our lives.
She was our matriarch, whose love for her family knew no bounds. She believed the circle of love grew with every birth and with every union. Every joy shared added more love and every crisis faced together made the circle stronger.
“When I go let it be a celebration
for I have been here
I have lived
I have loved
I have won at this game called life.”
Private family interment will be held at Green Acres Cemetery.
Today, in memory of Tillie, do something special for someone in your circle of love.
