Pearl Margaret Linklater

She is survived by her brother Sonny (Donna); her children Darlene, Larry Jr. (Merle), Greg, Jo-Anne (Vito), and Dale (Karen); her grandchildren James, Melissa (Brad), Michelle (Travis), Vanessa, Alexandra, Jessica, Rebecca, Logan, Kienan, Ellah and Landan; her great grandchildren Sam, Wyatt, Cole, Payton, Presley and Jack; numerous nieces and nephews; her niece Sandi (Riel) of Winnipeg; and, son-in-law Ken. She is predeceased by her husband Larry Sr., her daughter Debbie and her sister Carroll.

Pearl was the first child born to Sigurd and Alice Hammer in the summer of 1934. She grew up in Winnipeg and was always the protective big sister to Sonny and Carroll. Married at a young age her life revolved around her family and faith.

She loved to bake every Sunday for her children; that meant date nut loaf, flapper pie, puffed wheat, bread and cinnamon buns to be enjoyed.

She was an avid reader and knitter, everyone had to have grandma's knitted slippers.

She worked hard to provide for her six children.

Pearl’s favourite thing was to hold a new grand baby in her arms. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.

Throughout her life she made many lifelong friends, including the ladies of the Grief Workshop who continued to support her through the most trying times.

Pearl, Mom, Grandma, Gram – you were the light of our lives and we will cherish every moment we shared with you, honouring each time we had together.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre for their continued support and compassion through this difficult time. You brought happiness to her during her final days and we are forever grateful for that.

Funeral service will be held at St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway, on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
