Suddenly on July 20th at the age of 70 years, Rob passed away in his favourite place with his loving wife and best friend at his side. He is survived by his wife Donna, one daughter Michelle (Allan), one granddaughter Marilynn of whom he was very proud.
Rob is also survived by two sisters Lynda (Allan), and Kathy, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Millie Burch.
Rob was born October 3, 1952 in Winnipeg to Bill and Millie Burch. As a young boy, he was a Cub Scout and enjoyed fishing and hunting. After he graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate, he attended Red River College and graduated with a diploma in survey technology. He used this education throughout his career at Manitoba Hydro.
In 1981 he met Donna, whom he married on September 3, 1983, and they built a wonderful life together full of love and friendship. Over their 40 years of marriage their travels took them to Hawaii, Portugal, Costa Rica, the Mediterranean, throughout Canada and the United States and most notably, many trips to Mexico. In August of 1999 his special pumpkin Marilynn was born, they shared their love of travel with her taking her Disney World in 2009. He retired from Manitoba Hydro in May of 2012 and enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends and travelling. Rob loved fishing, golfing, goose hunting, playing pool at the Legion, music, spending time in his happy place out in the yard, and the watching the Winnipeg Bombers. At the young age of 70, he was teaching himself to play the guitar.
Rob will be missed dearly by his soulmate, family and friends, and will always be remembered for his sense of humour. We’ll raise a glass of JD while AC/DC’s Dirty Deeds plays in the background……. ’Til we meet again.
