Roland Heim

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Roland Heim on March 4, 2015 at the age of 86. Roland will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Ingrid (Ingo) and Rita (Lou); grandchildren Anita (Steve), Jason (Kasia), Carsten (Brandy), Matthew (Anna); great-grandchildren Cyla, Kelsea, Ayden, Liam, Aaron, Alexander and River as well as relatives across Canada, Germany and the USA.

Roland was the eldest son born to Martha (Wiedmer) and Eduard Heim on November 28, 1928 in Fachria, Romania. During the Second World War the family had to leave Fachria and then settle in Austria and later Germany. After a few years working on farms, Roland left Germany and ended up in Winnipeg. In 1952 he married his childhood friend Victoria. Ingrid was born one year later. The family moved out to Mooshorn, close to Ashern, where they had bought a farm. Four years later they moved back to Winnipeg and Roland started working at Swifts. In 1960, they were blessed with a second daughter, Rita.

Roland was a hard-working man. He could fix anything and was good at renovating houses. His easy going personality made him well liked by everyone. The family would like to thank the Management, Staff and Home Care Workers at Catherine Place, as well as the Nurses and Staff at Tuxedo Villa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 18 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
