Roy passed away at the age of 66 on May 29, 2013 at the Beausejour Hospital. He was born on June 13, 1946 in Hamiota, Manitoba.
Roy was predeceased by his parents Clare and Dorothy and his sister, Vi.
Roy leaves to mourn his wife, Dale and his dog, Lacey. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Bernice (Neal), Margaret (Dave) and his two nieces, Tracey and Kristy (Dallas) and their children Nicholas & McKenna; his four close friends, Neal, Grant, Kevin and Kenny; as well as extended family and friends in the community.
He was a jack of all trades. Throughout the years Roy worked many jobs ;a ranch in Alberta as a teenager; to the mine in Thomson; Drummond McCall; Metro Propane; fly-in fishing camps in Northern Manitoba. His last job was at Buck’s auto Wreckers.
Roy enjoyed fishing and hunting. Best of all he loved his home in Oakbank, where he and Kevin worked on many cars. Roy’s pride and joy was his 4x4 Chevy – of many colors -which he built from scratch using whatever parts he could find. Roy also cut many cords of wood thru the years. He did lots of jobs for many people in the community. If someone called he would always stop what he was doing to help out. He cleaned barns at the riders stable in Bird’s Hill; he cleared people’s land of unwanted trees; also painted many homes. You could give Roy any motor and he would take it apart and put it back together. He was meticulous with his workmanship.
Cremation has taken place. A come and go tea to celebrate Roy’s life will take place at the Hodgson’s residence on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 2-4 pm. Donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB.R3T 0R3.
Many thanks to Selkirk and Beausejour Hospital and Dr. Garth Campbell for the love and care they gave to Roy.
