Thelma was born December 12, 1937, near Carrot River, SK. She was the middle child of three, sister to big brother Norman (Marge) and to baby sister, June (Don). She was predeceased by brother, Norman (2016).
The family moved around a bit, finally settling in The Pas, MB, before eventually relocating to Winnipeg. It was in The Pas where she met her partner in life, Jack. They were married on December 12, 1955, and honeymooned in Winnipeg, MB. Together Mom and Dad raised six children: Glen (Sue); Cliff; Sandra (Tim); Norma; Kim (Mark); and Scott (Lorrie). In time they were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
While Dad ran trade working for CN mom raised the kids and ran the house with a quiet voice that did not invite argument and the LOOK that silenced anything you might have wanted to say. Baking with the kids is a memory that each will carry with them for all of their days.
Mom’s passion for community was demonstrated in her involvement with United Church Ladies, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Legion Ladies working to help raise funds for various community groups and projects. She also loved sports and was instrumental in starting women’s hockey in The Pas. When she wasn't playing, she watched Saturday night on CBC or watched local teams at the community rink.
Mom and Dad loved to travel to see family, to attend different events, or just to see something new. During retirement they enjoyed spending their summers at home at Clearwater Lake, and for 25 years their winters were spent in Florida.
Mom is missed dearly by her family, friends and all that had the chance to meet or spend time with her.
