Yvonne Helen Lindsay

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Yvonne Helen Lindsay (Verplaetse) on February 23, 2026, at St. Boniface hospital, at the age of 87. Yvonne was born and raised in Winnipeg and lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and deep devotion to her family.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Gary Lindsay, father Henri Verplaetse, mother Helen Verplaetse (Turcan), brothers, Sonny Verplaetse, Ken Verplaetse and sisters, Agnes Rear, Carole Lavich, and Shirley Verplaetse .

Yvonne was the proud and loving mother of three children – Jeff (Jodi) Lindsay, Craig (Rachel) Lindsay, and Todd (Cher) Lindsay – whom she lived her life for.

She was also a cherished Grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren: Carter, Delaney, Reagan, Drew, Brendon, Christian, Alyssa, and Danica. Yvonne also shared a close bond with her sisters and brothers, who stood by her through every chapter of life. Barry Verplaetse (Eleanore), Diane Barnabe (Ed), Lilian Sedo, Margaret Lavich (Leon), Donnie Verplaetse (Marie-Anne), Phil Verplaetse, Janet Deserranno (George).

Yvonne was born at St. Boniface Hospital on June 30, 1938 and grew up with her family in Winnipeg, MB. Yvonne and Gary were married in 1962. Gary Lindsay passed away November 24, 2007.

Yvonne’s life in Winnipeg was dedicated to her family. In Yvonne’s spare time she loved to spend time at Gull and Falcon Lake, participate in activities at the Belgium Club, travel, shop, read, watch a good western, spend time with family, and crocheting.

Yvonne devoted 40 years to running Union Insurance, where she was known for her work ethic, kindness, and commitment to others. Work was one of her favorite hobbies.

Yvonne touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.

Funeral service to honor Yvonne will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, 2:00 P.M at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery. Hwy. #1 at Navin, (204) 222-3241
