Nécrologie de Cathy Morgan
Mary "Cathy" Morgan, 74, passed away October 21, 2021, surrounded by family, following a long battle with dementia. She is survived by her wife, Mollie Hill; two daughters, Sara Morgan Francis (Pete) and Julie Adams (Eric); her dearly loved grandchildren, Maren, Max, Mason, Noah, and Grayson; her sister, Martha Smith (Bill); sister-in-law, Irene McKiernan (Dan); brother-in-law, Tony Hill (Jennifer); and multiple nieces and nephews, Karen Regman, Abby Smith, Korree Mata, Brian Smith, Maura Hupfer, Colleen McKiernan, Neil McKiernan, CJ Hill, and Natalie Hill. Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Mary (Miku) Mann; her brother, Don Regman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. We can only imagine how thrilled they all are to have her join them and finally see her smile, hear her laugh, and feel her hugs again. Cathy was a graduate of the University of Evansville and held a BSN/RN degree in nursing. She spent the greatest part of her professional career as a nurse at Silvercrest Children’s Development Center in New Albany, IN. She often spoke of the joys of her job working with the kids and the love she had for them. An avid reader, she was most often found with a book or Reader’s Digest close at hand or completing the New York Times Crossword Puzzle - in pen! “Catfeet” loved music and singing and playing games. She was an oboe and flute player in the Hobart High School band. She was an early member of the VOICES of Kentuckiana fully inclusive chorus. As a member of Metropolitan Community Church in Louisville, she actively participated in services and loved singing with the choir. She was often seen dancing to whatever rhythms were around. Her dominos set and canasta deck saw frequent use, but she was up for anything, especially if it was word-based. She was an avid fan of U of L women’s basketball and enjoyed watching the men’s basketball team as well as the football team at every opportunity. With a heart that overflowed with love for others, Cathy was always available with ready conversation or a shoulder to cry on; as a cheerleader (for her favorite sports teams as well as for her favorite people), as a mentor, an impromptu therapist, an everyday comedian, or just with a ready smile. Her greatest joys were found spending time with her family and friends, but especially with her children and grandchildren. Please join us to honor Cathy, a beautiful soul who was always willing to give and receive love. Services will be at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 28th (2-8pm) and Friday, October 29th (10am-noon). A Celebration of Life service will take place from noon-1pm Friday. Guests are invited to sport the attire or colors of Cathy's favorite team, the University of Louisville Cardinals. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VOICES of Kentuckiana or Metropolitan Community Church.
