Donna Rae Winn

Born on February 26, 1949, in Louisville, KY., Donna was a lifelong resident of Floyds Knobs, IN. In the 1960s, her father built the family home where she would live for the rest of her life, a home filled with love, laughter, and generations of memories. That house became the heart of the family, just as Donna was the heart of all of us.

Donna was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She would help anyone in need, give whatever she could, and never hesitate to put others before herself. Her generosity and kindness were simply who she was.

She is preceded in death by her parents. Charles and Leona Poff.

Her greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved her son, Charles “Chuck” Winn, and her daughter-in-law, Ashley (Dunn) Winn. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Cora Colwell (James) and Audrey Ash (Tyler), and her heart overflowed for her great-grandchildren; Isaiah, Alana, Abigail, Scarlet, and Aliza; and extended family and friends, who each brought light and purpose to her life. She was a true surrogate Mom, Aunt, Grandma and more.

Donna also leaves behind her loving sisters, Sandy Schmitt and Connie Burton.

A faithful parishioner of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Donna’s faith carried her through every season of life.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, trips to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Disney World, visiting Pow-Wows, watching Christmas movies, working crossword puzzles, and spending time surrounded by those she loved. Holidays were especially meaningful to her, and her presence made every gathering warmer.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with her parents. Her legacy of generosity, strength, and unconditional love will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday, March 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held at Kraft Funeral Service on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm.

Donna will be laid to rest at Saint Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery, Floyds Knobs, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for expressions of sympathy in her name to be made to New Albany/Floyd County Animal Shelter and Saint Mary's of the Knobs Catholic Church.
