

Doris M. Mappes, 89, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. She was born on January 30, 1936, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Albert and Alma Awe. Doris was married to Martin L. Mappes for 49 years, and together they raised three children: Brian, Teresa, and Marty.
By God’s grace, Doris came to recognize her need for a Savior and trusted in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and salvation. She lived out that faith by loving her family, serving others, and sharing the good news of Jesus with many.

Doris is survived by her children and their families: Brian (Lisa) Mappes and their children, Zachary; Heidi (Kevin) and their children, Adaline, Graham, and Cora; and Sara (Clint) and their children, Sadie and Layton; Teresa (Don) Brown and their children, Lauren (Jason) and their children, Levi and Elijah; Cameron; Jordyn (Chris) and daughter, Emma; Joshua (Maddy) and their children, Blake and Selah; Samendia, Timothy, Eva, Jefferson, Zyf and Elinor; and Marty (Gina) Mappes and their children, Ryan and Carter. She is also survived by her sister, Vera McCluer, and her sister-in-law, Sharon Awe.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Martin L. Mappes; her parents; her stepmother, Louise Mayer Awe; her siblings, Paul Awe, Ruth Hodgin, and Donald Awe; and her grandchildren, Liesha and Katlyn.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 1787 Klerner Lane, New Albany, Indiana, on January 17, 2026, starting at 12:00 pm.
Doris Mappes will then be taken to Norman, Oklahoma for graveside service and burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery on Tuesday, January 20, at 2:00 PM.
