Doris Elaine Walker

Doris Elaine Walker, 89 years of age passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at her home in Jupiter, FL after a long courageous battle with COPD. She was born October 4, 1926 in New Albany, IN to her late parents Raymond and Nina Harper. Doris graduated from New Albany High School in 1944, and then later went on to graduate from the Jefferson County School of Practical Nursing in 1969, she retired as a Nurse in 1988 from the old Humana Southwest Hospital in Valley Station, KY. She was a longtime resident of Valley Station, KY, she was a Methodist by faith, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 61 years. She had many interests in her life which included sports of all kinds, bingo, traveling, and casino gaming, she loved her family, her friends, and her precious dog Sugar Bear. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years CSM. William H. Walker who passed away in 2005, she was also preceded in death by her sisters Betty Jean Goebel, and Barbara Rhea Turley, her daughter Patricia Ann McCumbers and niece Karen Bentley.

Memorial Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Friday March 11, 2016 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Memorial Service will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday March 11, 2016 at the funeral home chapel with private burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
