Dorothy W. Parks

Dorothy W. Parks, 84, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born April 7, 1930 in Spring Lick, Kentucky to the late Hena Hubert and Ada Jewell (Shain) Wilson. Dorothy was a member of both Colgate Baptist Church and Chenoweth Park Baptist Church and enjoyed many years of teaching Sunday School. Dorothy’s gentle spirit and compassion were experienced in her commitment to her family and friends, numerous acts of service in church and in her community, and in love and care of animals and nature. Dorothy’s love will live on in our hearts and lives as her legacy.

Survivors include her daughters, Joan Dale and husband Frank of Louisville, KY, June Morris and husband Larry of Aiken, SC, Jennifer Wollam and husband Jeff of New Albany, IN; brother, Doyle Wilson; grandchildren, Aaron, Jeremy, Rebekah, Amanda, Laura, Caleb, Leigh Ann, Hannah, and Benjamin;

great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Chloe, Kaya, Nathaniel, Nora, Cole, Thomas, Elijah.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Herschel C. Parks; sister, Zelma Hoskins; and brother, James Wilson.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana with a Celebration of Life service at 5:00 pm Saturday. Visitation will be 11:00 am CST until 2:00 pm CST Sunday with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm CST Sunday at Dermitt Funeral Home, 210 E. Maple Street, Caneyville, Kentucky with burial to follow at Richland Cemetery in Caneyville, Kentucky.
