Nécrologie de Elmer "Dean" Hubbard
Elmer "Dean" Hubbard (Charlestown, IN) passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021 with loved ones close. Dean was born on May 24, 1938 to Alfred A. and Amzel L. Hubbard in English, IN. He was one of five children: Mary Jane (Bob) Watson, Novy (Ellen Jane) Hubbard, Betty Lou (Bill) Miller, and Maude Alice (Ed) Francis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Amzel Hubbard, his brother, Novy Hubbard, and sister Mary Jane Watson. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Priscilla Smith Hubbard; sisters: Betty Lou Miller, and Maude Alice Francis; children: Kerry (Sherry) Hubbard, Lisa (Michael) Howard, Chris (Cheryl) Hubbard; grandchildren: Brittney (Adam) Luckett, Erin Bishop, Wesley (Kayla) Wyatt, Matthew (Maribeth) Wyatt; great grandchildren: Katelyn Luckett, Jackson Luckett, and Sophie Howard; and several nieces and nephews. After high school graduation, Dean served in the Air Force where he was stationed in the Philippines. During active duty, he married Priscilla and began their lives together. Dean was a life-long farmer and retired from Loudon Sheet Metal in Louisville, KY, where he was a member of the SMW 110 Union. A civic-minded, natural-born leader, he served as the president of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, was a life-time member of the American Angus Association, and member of the American Legion. Dean was also a member of the Methodist faith and was a generous man dedicated to serving his community, neighbors, family, and friends. Dean enjoyed spending time with his wife, working on projects, creating new inventions, landscaping, being outdoors, and watching his great grandchildren and dogs play. The family spent many summer days together fishing and picnicking on Buffy's Lake at his home. No matter the circumstances of life, Dean's positive attitude always prevailed. He had a way of turning every situation into an opportunity to learn and laugh. His larger-than-life character will be missed by many. The family would like to thank Norton Brownsboro Hospital for exceptional care. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, November 26, 2021 and 9:00 am to 10:00 am Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.
