Floyd "Tommy" T. Barton

Floyd Thomas "Tommy" Barton, age 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2025. Tommy was born on April 10, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Sterling J. Barton and Mary (Hall) Barton.

Tommy enjoyed being with lots of friends and family with a cooler full of cold beers, good music, and playing horseshoes all day. Tommy was very, very good at horseshoes. Over the years of playing, he once broke a peg, which seems odd, but then broke a horseshoe itself a different time. What are the odds of one, let alone the other? Tommy also enjoyed a good game of checkers, which he played a lot.

The thing to remember about that is during one game with his son Tim they once locked a game down…. Meaning after no opponent was removed from the board they each had no move to go to next. They both were really excited about that and bragged that two great minds think alike.

He also enjoyed just sitting outside in a chair with his shirt off during the summers and a cold beer just relaxing and watching a nice bonfire.

To put it plain and simple Tommy enjoyed his cold beer while having fun with family and friends.

He will be missed.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Barton; and sisters, Denise McCormick and Linda Roberts.

Tommy is survived by his sons, Chris Barton and Tim Barton; his daughters, Kelly Hogan and Becky Stanberry; a brother, David Barton; his loving grandchildren, Laura, Amanda, Danny, Misty, Christian, Cody, Michelle, and Hollie; his adoring great grandchildren, Adrien, Addison, JD, Chelsey, Dannica, Aspen, Makayla, Jaxon, Julien, Elliana, Amelia, Kora, Amiyah, Zion, and Shai; nephew, "Little" David Barton; and many other extended friends and family.

A Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

A Funeral Service will be at Kraft Funeral Service on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11 AM.
