Nécrologie de Frank Zinsmeister Riely
Frank Zinsmeister Riely, 91, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021, after a short illness. He was born to John and Gertrude (Zinsmeister) Riely in New Albany, Indiana on December 16, 1929. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Charlotte Riely. Frank was a kind, gentle, loving man with a tremendous sense of humor. He was known to friends for his great decency and honesty. With his first wife, Mary Anne, who died in 1991, he raised three children who love him deeply. Frank’s career in retail shoe sales included running the family-owned Boston Shoe Store and Kail-Smith Shoe Store in downtown New Albany. He lived on the same street on Silver Hills for more than 80 years and often traveled those familiar roads on the back of his John Deere tractor, always ready to help his neighbors with any project, large or small. Visiting “Gramps” was always a highlight for his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Plasencia (Luis), Frank Z. Riely, Jr. (Jacqueline), and Susan Smart (Scott) as well as stepchildren Leo Dupaquier (Brenda), Kerry Dupaquier (Georgina), and Jennifer Himelick. He had 8 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Anne (Kennedy) Riely, his two brothers, John C. Riely and Richard J. Riely, and his stepson, Deryl Dupaquier. There will be a private graveside service for the family at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany. Donations can be made in Frank's name to the Silver Hills Historical Society or Dare to Care Food Bank of Kentuckiana.
